Power adapter cable ripped? What to do?

So I have a Dell laptop and I have had it maybe a year. When I first got it somhow the riggid part by the tip of the cable ripped. I plaaced tape there so that the begining part wont bend and ripp any further. Now I have unravelled the tape a year later. The reason why i took the tape off is no matter what I do the computer wont start. So i take the tape off and i see the wire is suveerly melted(looks like its cut but i think it has melted and pulled away from eachother. Now there are some ripped wires. and fortunatly the big wire is not ripped yet. I have plugged it in my computer and finally got it too work, but any little movement and the powere will go out and since my battery has issues my computer will die. How do I fix this wire? I am on vacation and I am going to give this computer to my relaties but I want to fix it first. How can i fix it? If i took it to be professionally fixed how much would it be? The reason why i dont just buy another one is a long explanation so id rather not talk about it. please help!!
