Can I return first time washed and just bought bedsheets?

I bought some bedsheets at Target today (May 5th), washed them once before putting them on and the thread is already unraveling (a good foot and a half). I have my receipt and all the original packaging, will they still give me a refund (I'll even be happy with store credit) even though they've been washed? I checked the return policy on the site and it doesn't say much.
